Holidays and Holy Days



Dear Friends,


 The Honourable Premier of KZN, Dr Zweli Mkhize, met with Hindu organisations last night. Vibhu Caitanya Das, our co-president, on meeting the Premier said that he felt pride when the Premier, in his keynote address, singled out the Hare Krishna Movement and His Holiness Indradyumna Swami for working tirelessly to promote social cohesion. Vibhu Caitanya said that he was happy that the Premier was open to meet and discuss concerns and answer their questions.

 All children are invited to the fun-filled three-day Winter Retreat at Sri Sri Radha Radhanath Temple from 2-4 July.  See poster for details.

Dear Friends,

Nelson Mandela Prayer Vigil Cancelled
In light of recent conversations with the Mandela family liaison, it has been advised that we all focus on his 95th birthday celebration. In order to uphold the desires of the Mandela family, we have decided to cancel the prayer vigil tomorrow, Thursday 20 June 2013. Thank you for your overwhelming support of the event, and kindly accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Raghunath Das followed Lord Nityananda's instruction making it a grand event filled with so much joy, that Lord Caitanya mysteriously appeared giving pleasure to the devotees.

Prayers and Process


Dear Friends,

Due to our recent endeavours in social cohesion events, we are pleased to announce that we have been invited to lead a prayer vigil for our much-loved former president, Nelson Mandela. As you may be aware, he is currently in a Pretoria hospital for the last five days struggling with a lung infection. Madiba has visited our temple twice, received Srila Prabhupada's books and even attended our largest Food For Life programme held in the 90's. We are honoured to offer this service for our "Father of the Nation". At the Sunday Love Feast His Holiness Partha Sarathi Das Goswami discussed the first twenty-five limbs of devotional service as described by Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu to Srila Sanatana Gosvami. Maharaja explained: "Festivals are called utsava…and the word utsahan means enthusiastic. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur describes that by attending festivals like Ratha-yatra or Janmastami, you become enthusiastic." Over the next two Sunday Love Feasts he will continue to discuss all 64 limbs of devotion. Please see poster for more details. You can download Sunday's lecture from our website www.iskcondurban.net.
