Festival Schedule 28-29 August

Dear Friends,

Tomorrow we celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna. You are warmly invited to come to the temple to hear, chant, and dance in celebration. Lord Brahma, the first created being, describes Lord Krishna: "I worship Govinda, the primeval Lord, round whose neck is swinging a garland of flowers beautified with the moon-locket, whose hands are adorned with the flute and jewelled ornaments, who always revels in pastimes of love, whose graceful threefold-bending form of Shyamasundara is eternally manifest." Brahma Samhita 5.31.

On Thursday, 29 August, we honour our Founder Acharya and beloved, Srila A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Srila Prabhupada blessed the earth by sowing the seeds of devotion to the Supreme Lord, Krishna. By Srila Prabhupada's grace we are able to celebrate festivals like Sri Krishna Janmashtami on a grand scale. You are invited to offer Srila Prabhupada homage on Thursday. You can make a garland to offer to Srila Prabhupada or bring a food offering. For details of food offerings please call Sukumari Dasi: 031 4033328 between 10am-4pm. Dear Friends,

Saturday, 17 August, is jammed packed with events at the temple throughout the day. Please see the Week Ahead for details.

On Saturday an Adivas ceremony of auspiciousness will be conducted. This is to usher in the festive season. We will be offering Sri Sri Radha Radhanath twenty-five auspicious items. The twenty-five items include: earth, stone, paddy, durva, flowers, fruit, yoghurt, ghee, svastika, sindhura, conch, kajal, gorocana, white mustard seeds, gold, silver, copper, lamp, mirror, fragrant oil, turmeric, cloth, thread, camara, and candana. You can be part of this festival by sponsoring an item. Item sponsorship starts from R108. During the ceremony you will be invited to hand over your item to the pujari, who will then offer it to Sri Sri Radha Radhanath. If you would like to sponsor an item, please contact temple@iskcondurban.net.
