Collective Japa Plea
The Bhakti Yoga Society on Howard Campus is currently in jeopardy. We may lose our listing as a registered society at the campus. The BYS has been on Howard Campus since 1986.
When Srila Prabhupada visited South Africa in 1975, his main instruction was university cultivation. We humbly request everyone to dedicate one round of japa to saving our university programme on that campus. 

We welcome His Holiness Gauravani Goswami, a disciple of Srila Prabhupada and comes from Germany. We also welcome His Grace Ranjit Prabhu, who is originally from Pretoria but now lives in Los Angeles. Ranjit Prabhu does service at the BBT International copyrights division. And a warm welcome to His Holiness Bhakti Prema Swami (known previously as Ganganarayan Das), the Temple President of ISKCON Ujjain. These devotees are visiting South Africa on invitation to the BBT Africa Conference.  We will schedule programmes during the course of the week and advertise accordingly.

Week Ahead 22 - 31 July

Dear Friends

We welcome the much needed rain and hope that our water catchment areas will soon report an increase in water levels.  Unfortunately with the rain, the Bhakti Theatre regrets to announce that we have to cancel our show scheduled for Saturday, 25 July at 4pm. The marquee is not available as an alternate venue as Govinda’s restaurant is still operating from there. The next Bhakti Theatre will be on Saturday, 22 August and we promise to bring you an even better show.

Week Ahead 9 - 15 July

After attending the recent Krishna Balaram Youth Group retreat featuring His Grace Agnideva Prabhu, Swarup Damodar Prabhu shared these thoughts: “An ardent longing over many years to hear live the kirtan of Agnideva Prabhu was at last fulfilled. It was the most heart fulfilling experience to hear and associate with Agnideva Prabhu. Its hard to imagine something surpassing his awe inspiring singing ability, but his humble personality easily does that. An attractive devotee that you just want to always be with. I cannot wait to once again be in his association at the six hour kirtan scheduled for Durban."

Ekadasi
Days such as Ekadasis are considered "mothers of devotion.” This Sunday, 12 July, our youth have arranged a spectacular day of devotion. Not only is this day especially auspicious because it falls within the holy month of Purushottam but we will also be hosting His Grace Agnidev Prabhu - arguably ISKCON devotees’ favourite kirtan and bhajan singer. Many devotees may recall his kirtan back in the day of tapes and tape recorders. He has held the attention of our Vaishnava community for over forty years.

It is with deep gratitude and pride we present a day filled with the holy name. Note that His Grace Amala Harinam Prabhu will also grace us with his chanting.

Yes, we have successfully reactivated our bore hole. Initial plans include using the water for irrigation.

Please note that Govinda’s Restaurant will continue operate from the prasad marquee until the re-opening. Kindly excuse any inconvenience. 

Renovations News
Govinda’s Restaurant Level
Major renovations are underway on the Govinda’s level of the temple with walls demolished making space for the improved Govinda’s Restaurant, Temple Reception and the new Radhanath’s Boutique. Govinda’s Restaurant will enjoy a much needed facelift, rebranding, better facility with ergonomic design. The Temple Reception will now be situated at the old book office with the new Radhanath’s Boutique at the old reception. We aim to launch this “commercial level” of the temple later this month. Please keep an eye out for updates, launch offers and news. 

Temple Room Restoration News
Two of the large temple room artworks have been removed for sizing and product matching. We have made a new selection of art with three new choices. The artworks have been photoshopped for clarity and colour brilliance. If you would like to sponsor an  artwork, please contact Rasa-sthali Dasi at rasasthali@iskcondurban.net or call the temple. Note that there are only 4 artworks available for sponsorship.
