Festive Friday

Dear Friends,

You are warmly invited to spend the day with us in honour and glorification of Srimati Radharani. Here are some meditations on Srimati Radharani, Her position, and relationship with Krishna:

"Srimati Radhika is the transformation of Krishna’s love. She is His internal energy called hladini." Cc. Adi 4.59
“The transcendental goddess Srimati Radharani is the direct counterpart of Lord Sri Krishna. She is the central figure for all the goddesses of fortune. She possesses all the attractiveness to attract the all-attractive Personality of Godhead. She is the primeval internal potency of the Lord.” Cc. Adi 4.83
"Therefore Radha is parama-devata, the supreme goddess, and She is worshipable for everyone. She is the protectress of all, and She is the mother of the entire universe." Cc. Adi 4.89

Swarup Damodar and Vibhu Caitanya say "Thank You"

Dearest Friends,

We had a joyous celebration of Lord Krishna's birth anniversary. Srila Prabhupada says in Nectar of Devotion that such holy days are the "mothers of devotion". Our hope was to create as much opportunity for everyone to benefit and join this celebration. Our programme began on the 20th, in fact sooner with the nama-hatta Hall Programmes, and ended on the 29th.

We thank everyone involved in making the festival a reality: the organisers, devotees and volunteers in service, nama-hattas who arranged hall programmes in their areas, organisations who invited us to speak at their celebrations, donors, and of course our thousands of guests.

Our Gita Week programme attracted hundreds of people and on the Sunday over 2000 attended. On Tuesday 1500 Learners enjoyed a special programme fashioned just for them and on Wednesday we hosted over 1000 Seniors. Of course the number of visitors on Janmastami exceeded 20 000 with the queue going into the temple extending 20 metres outside the main entrance for hours.

Thank you to the many devotees who made food preparations for Srila Prabhuapda on his Vyasa-puja, on Thursday, 29 August. We exceeded our target and offered over 2000 preparations to Srila Prabhupada with over 2500 people coming to honour His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

We host such festivals to bring everyone together to connect with God, Krishna, and will continue to serve you in this way. Soon, on the 13th of September, we are celebrating Sri Krishna's topmost devotee, Srimati Radharani, please mark your calendars as we invite you to come together again in prayer and celebration.

If you have any suggestions, feedback, and would like to render service please contact us: temple@iskcondurban.net

Finally, we humbly appeal to the community to offer prayers on behalf of His Holiness Krishna Das Swami, who is recovering from an operation.

We look forward to seeing you at the temple,

Your servants

Swarup Damodar Das and Vibhu Caitanya Das
